C-Reactive Protein
Diet
- Decrease refined carbohydrates
- Decrease saturated fat and trans-fats. Lowering trans-fats and cholesterol in the diet has been shown to decrease CRP by 39%
- Eat as many raw vegetables as possible. A diet high in whole, vegetarian foods has been shown to decrease CRP by 28%
- Eat cholesterol-friendly foods such as: almonds, soy protein, plant sterols and foods high in soluble fiber. Eating these foods lowered CRP nearly as well as statin medications.
Lifestyle
- Exercise is very important, blend strength training and aerobic activity for best result.
- Control stress as this can cause inflammation throughout the body.
- Brush and Floss. The bacteria that causes gum disease can also trigger inflammation in the blood vessels.
Supplements
- Pure Encapulations Krill Oil - 3 Capsules daily. Krill oil appears to be significantly better than fish oil for controlling CRP.
- Coenzyme Q10 - 100 mg Softgel Twice Daily
- PGX Fiber - 4 capsules or 1 Packet with each main meal. This can help to lower the glycemic index of food which can decrease CRP.
- Unique E - 400 IU one to two days daily. Vitamin E may work best when taken along with coenzyme Q10.
- L-Carnitine 500 mg three times daily.
