Bell’s Palsy

Diet

Decrease intake of arginine-containing foods. There is a theory, though yet unproven, that suggests that herpes simplex virus is at the root of Bell’s Palsy. Arginine is a key product in the replication of the virus and limiting its intake during a Bell’s Palsy episode may speed the healing.

Lifestyle

  1. Acupuncture may help to speed recovery.
  2. You should rule out other conditions like diabetes. A doctor’s visit is warranted to receive a proper diagnosis.
  3. Bell’s Palsy episodes can follow stressful events, learning to cope with stress is important.

Supplements

Starter Protocol:
  1. Your Prescription for Health Super Omega-3 Fish Oil - 3 Capsules Twice Daily OR Carlson’s Finest Fish Oil 1 Tablespoon Twice Daily for one month followed by 1 Tablespoon daily.
  2. Methyl-B12 1,000 mcg twice daily. B12 deficiency is common in people with active Bell’s Palsy. Methyl-B12 is an activated form of vitamin B12 which has been shown to be an effective tool for Bell’s Palsy.
  3. Vital Adapt - 2 droppersful twice daily. Vital Adapt is an herbal formula designed to help your body adapt to stress. This formula is especially important for people who are most sensitive to stress.
  4. Zyflamend - 2 capsules three times daily at the onset of an episode. This herbal anti-inflammatory may help to decrease inflammation in the nerve.
